The Department of English, has always played a pioneering role, ever since its establishment in the Year l982. It takes pride in its achievements over the past four decades in its multidimensional service being in close liaison with students, office, the management and the public. The department is fully aware of the role of English in the changing context. Hence it has taken giant strides successfully to conduct co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, fully student centered. This is its 37th year. The department, apart from teaching the prescribed syllabus, has been conducting a series of special lectures, seminars, workshops and arranging film shows, since its inception. The department has its own objectives and milestones. They are:
- Experimentation in teaching methodology.
- Using translation method, to teach poetry.
- Arranging film shows of all the prescribed texts.
- Assigning innovative assignment topics.
- Counseling for optional English students.

Teaching Methods
Chalk & Duster method for teaching grammar.
Screening films for the better understanding of the dramas,novels and other works of literature, both for general English and optional English students.

Future plans
