His Holiness Sree Sree Shivakumara Swamigalu, the pontiff of Siddaganga Muth and the President of Sree Siddaganga Education Society, Tumkur started Sree Siddaganga Women’s College in 1982 to educate and empower women of the state. Since the, the college has introduced a number of courses in all the three streams- Arts, Science and Commerce. The college has introduced minor languages like Urdu, Hindi besides the mother tongue Kannada, the global language English and Sanskrit, our classical language as second languages. The Department of Sanskrit was headed by Vidwan D.S.Chandrashekar M.A. and Vidwan Shadakshari M.A. till march 1987. Vidwan C.R.Jaykumar M.A., joined the Dept in 1987 and was head of the Dept till he was transferred to Sree Siddaganga Arts Science & Commerce for Women. Vidwan C.R.Jaykumar returned to the department HOD and retired in June 2012. He has been continued as lecturer in Sanskrit by the Management till further orders.
