LIBRARY AT A GLANCE
Profile :
A Library is a Communication Centre. It is a repository of Knowledge which acts as a nerve centre for the growth of knowledge. A librarian is a knowledge facilitator who serves as bridge between knowledge & its seekers. Therefore a Librarians Profession is a noble profession.
The present era is characterized by “Information Explosion “ which implies the enormous generation of information coupled with diverse information needs of uses, Advancement in information and Communication Technologies have Contributed a great deal for information explosion. In such Scenario the Librarianship demands acquaintance with latest technological developments and their application for better, quicker and accurate information delivery, today a Librarians job more challenging than ever.
Our Library was established in the year 1984-85 initially with 300 Books most of which were donated. It consists of various subject religions Arts, Science &Commerce Management besides general reference work such encyclopedia, Atlas, Dictionaries etc.
In the last five years the total collection of Books has increased 2018-19 4817 Books were added at present 54781 Books including 6482 reference books & 485 CDs, & Back volumes etc. The titles are categorized into topic such as Arts, Science & commerce Management and Marketing etc.
A Comprehensive Library Software Package has been installed to (e-lib software- Version 20.2) provide complete catalogue details of all holdings, this software has all the modules required for maintaining circulation budget allocation & providing access to bibliographic details.
The Open Access system has been introduced in the Library students can select any book/ periodicals/journals- Non book materials, from the rack for borrowing are brought to the Circulation Counter, Large numbers of students and staff member use the library for reference & borrowing re services materials.
Our Library is fully automated with barcoding of Books and also OPAC and internet facilities are also available our library provides- e-resources N_LIST _INFLIBNET _ e-Journals, e-books to faculty members free of cost to enrich their knowledge to maximum utilization and students & Teachers using free of cost of internet.
At present library is subscribing 25 national & International Journals (Including UGC care list journals) and also subscribing e-books e-Journals 35 general magazines 25 daily news papers display both Kannada & English. Reading the news papers & journals helps our students to keep abreast with the current happenings.
Our Library is total carpet is 4126 sq fit. The Seating capacity of the reading room is 150-160 setup for the students and the staff members. our issue counter work from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm even during the lunch hour reading room will kept open for the benefit of the students and Teachers.
We issue three books per students for all UG students Three books for 15 days which is to be renewed within the stipulated time for SC/ST students book bank facility is available for these students additional two books we issued in respect of all classes & also issued for two book Meritorious students in respect of all UG students & Alumni students we issue one book for one month and examination point of view extra books issue on deposit of double cost of books in the deposit.
Reference section is kept open from 9.00 am to 5.00 Pm for the benefit students as well as teachers.
Paper clipping information on various subject accessible to students which will help them to update their knowledge on the information desk, paper cutting and information job opportunities are displayed some noted information also displayed in the information corner at the entrance of the library.
