Brief History of the Department:

The BSc Biotechnology program was established in 2008 at Sree Siddaganga College of Arts, Science and Commerce for Women under the guidance of Dr. H.S Niranjan Aradhya with the aim of providing comprehensive education and training in the field of biotechnology. Over the years, the program has grown significantly, attracting students from diverse backgrounds, and becoming one of the most sought-after programs in the university.

The initial curriculum was designed to cover fundamental aspects of biotechnology, including molecular biology, genetics, and bioprocess engineering. As the field of biotechnology evolved, the program expanded to include emerging areas such as bioinformatics, environmental biotechnology, and synthetic biology.

The faculty members of the program have been instrumental in shaping its success. They bring a wealth of experience from various sectors, including academia, industry, and government research organizations.

The program has also been proactive in fostering industry-academia partnerships, resulting in internships, joint research projects, and technology transfer initiatives. These efforts have provided students with hands-on experience and enhanced their employability in the biotechnology sector.
